This past Saturday, September 26th, Browder’s Birds in Mattituck hosted their annual farm picnic from 4-8pm. This was our first time attending the picnic, which was a lovely intimate gathering where everyone celebrated the close to a worthwhile summer season and the bounty of the autumn harvest.
We were delighted to be back at the poultry farm again as we had just visited last Sunday as part of the The North Fork Foodie Tour. This time, my daughter had the opportunity to see some more chickens, the ducks, and the sheep roaming about the pasture. She loves animals and exploring, and we always enjoy every moment we can where we can immerse her in the outdoors and the local farms.
On the menu included House-made Barbecue Browder’s Chicken, Kale Caesar (using our organic egg yolks), Deviled eggs topped with Goodwater Farms Organic microgreens, Browder’s Chicken Pot Mini Pies, Handmade Ravioli, local tomatoes and watermelon, Minty MoonPies with organic egg white meringue, homemade ice cream, and Chris Browder’s Famous Angel Biscuits paired with their honey. Everything was so scrumptious. I fell in love with their Chicken Pot Mini Pies and the chicken, which was served in three different styles.
To drink, their was a selection of beer, wine, iced tea, and lemonade. The Hamptons Aristocrat helped prepare the food and the menu. Their deviled eggs were exceptional, some of the best my husband and I have ever tried!
