The 6th annual Food Truck Derby took place at the Hayground School in Bridgehampton on Friday, August 11th, presented by Edible East End. The event began at 3:30pm VIP ticket holders and at 4pm for General Admission and lasted until 7pm. This was my third time attending the Food Truck Derby and by far, this was the best year yet! Everyone involved did a phenomenal and thorough job putting together such a well-organized and well-attended event. The weather was perfect, the food and beverages were plentiful, and there was something for everyone.
On Saturday, August 5th, Christy Doramus of Crowns by Christy hosted a summer brunch in partnership with Nine West at a private residence in Sagaponack, NY. In support of Nine West’s new #StandOut campaign, the event focused on highlighting the brand’s new shoe collection inspired by strength, power and beauty of women across the world. Attendees were invited to mingle with like-minded influential women who are defining what it means to #StandOut and working to make a difference within their own communities.
During the event, guests were invited to try on their favorite Nine West designs and complete their looks from “head to toe” with a flower crown. A custom “shoefie” station designed by Christy Doramus allowed attendees to easily take photos of their favorite shoe styles and creatively showcase what it means to #StandOut. GlamSquad was on-site for makeup and hair touch-ups, and the brunch menu was curated and served by Hamptons local Jennifer Poto.
‘The Children Matter’, an exclusive charity event benefiting MATTER & The Starkey Hearing Foundation, was presented by Bridgehampton Benefit at Southampton Arts Center Saturday on Saturday, July 29th. The talented singer/songwriter, Sophie Simmons, was joined by her father, KISS legend, Gene Simmons, wife Former Playmate of the Year, Shannon Tweed-Simmons and their son Nick Simmons. The Simmons Family have been long-time supporters and ambassadors for the nonprofit MATTER.
This event could not have taken place without the incredible dedication and hard work of the main event planner and coordinator team, Noë Brown (Gala 631) and Jason Zimmerman (Founder of Bridgehampton Benefit). The unforgettable evening was kicked off with energizing performance by New York based band, The Janes, immediately followed by a fashion show featuring, Holland’s Next Top Model Winner, Kim Feenstra, and Best Selling Author of The Earth Diet & 10-Minute Recipes Liana Werner-Gray. Adjacent to the fashion show, Kendra Scott had an interactive Hamptons Y’all photo booth.
The 13th Annual A Hamptons Happening benefiting the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) took place this past on Saturday, August 5 from 6:30-10pm at the private estate of Maria & Kenneth Fishel and Family in Bridgehampton. The host for the evening was CBS 2 News anchor Chris Wragge. This is one of my favorite Hamptons summer events for a number of reasons: the enthusiastic guests, the organization and professionalism of the staff, and the extravagant culinary display that easily rivals any other Hamptons summer soirée. The evening drew in about 500 guests and had the opportunity to savor plenty of fine cuisine and sip cocktails all while having the opportunity bid on live and silent auction items.
Event-goers were also treated to live performances by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright and up-and-coming recording artist Sophie Beem. Wainwright’s performance celebrated the introduction of a sarcoma research grant established jointly by the SWCRF and the Kate McGarrigle Foundation (KMF), a nonprofit organization he and his family founded to support sarcoma research after his mother passed away from the disease. Beem is a rhythmic pop singer, songwriter, and musician from New York City who was discovered and developed by Beyoncé. She has opened for Beyoncé internationally on the historic Formation World Tour, performed at the US Open Arthur Ashe Kids Day, DigiTour, and Jay-Z’s Made In America Festival.
Hayground School and Jeff’s Kitchen celebrated their 13th Annual Chefs Dinner on Sunday, July 30th at Hayground School in Bridgehampton. Chefs Tom Colicchio and Nick and Toni’s and Hayground Founder Toni Ross hosted the farm-to-table benefit dinner honoring Chef Bill Telepan and Tinka D. Topping. Telepan is the Executive Chef of Oceana and Topping is a Hayground Founding Member. This was my second time attending the intimate event; the guest list is strictly limited to 150 individuals and the evening is always a sell out. The food at cocktail hour alone is so exquisite and artfully presented. Each plate is so sumptuous that each deserve its own accolade.
