Ever since I could remember, anytime I went out to a restaurant, if Swedish meatballs were on the menu, guaranteed that would be the entree I would order. It became such a regular dish to have at some of my favorite restaurants, that I began to take notes on what ingredients and techniques were used to create the dish. Very soon after, I sought to recreate my favorite dinner dish at home. Traditionally served with mashed potatoes and a thinner, darker gravy, I much preferred a thicker, richer sauce with fresh herbs and a plentiful amount of sliced mushrooms.
At home, we have Swedish meatballs at least twice a month. We always make enough to have for lunch the next day as well. When it comes to these delectable homemade meatballs, a pairing with Lingonberry jam is a must. You can also use red currant jam. And the sauce – so smooth and creamy with an essence of fresh rosemary, you will surely want to add a couple more tablespoons over your bed of egg noodles for an extra boost of tasty fun. Let’s get that plate dancing, shall we?
I am hosting a giveaway with Betsy’s Best. One winner in the U.S. will have the opportunity to win a four pack of her delicious nut butter, including 1 jar of Gourmet Seed Butter, Cashew Butter, Almond Butter and Peanut Butter. All of her products are feature unique ingredients like chia seeds, cinnamon and pink Himalayan salt making for an unbeatable tasting experience.
With the December holiday season in full swing, it is so critical that adults (and children) cooking and prepping meals be aware of how to minimize the risk of food borne illnesses. The Food Safety Book: What You Don’t Know Could Kill You is so full of information and easy to read, it might as well be named “The Kitchen Bible.” This handy book will help you stay safe in the kitchen, and guide you to make smart choices when bagging your groceries and selecting the best fruits and vegetables in the grocery store or at the markets.
The Food Safety Book covers three themes: food safety, food quality, and food longevity. There are dozens upon dozens of times that I have opened my refrigerator and could not be certain how long specific vegetables can remain in the fridge, the last day leftover food should be consumed, proper thawing time, and the ideal storage location for food items. To assist in ensuring that you stay healthy and safe during these joyous occasions, I am giving away one hardcopy of The Food Safety Book to my readers!
