Claudio’s Restaurant Greenport

I had the pleasure of dining for lunch at Greenport‘s landmark eatery, Claudio’s Restaurant. Claudio’s is celebrating their 146th season and has been owned and operated by the same family all of these years. In fact, did you know that Claudio’s is America’s oldest same-family owned restaurant?

I admire the nostalgia each time I visit Claudio’s: the old-world nautical interior, grand bar, and wooden table seating in their side room with excellent views of Greenport Harbor. Whether visiting Claudio’s for a drink and appetizer at the bar, or for a full-course seafood lunch or dinner, I am always reminded of my visits to Greenport and touring the quaint seaside community ever since I was very young. It has become a family tradition to visit the restaurant at least once during the early autumn months.

First and South

First and South, located in the heart of the Village of Greenport, is one of the best kept secrets on the North Fork. This quaint, country chic gastropub serves lunch and dinner with a splash of live music on select nights. This my first visit to the restaurant for lunch under the helm of new Executive Chef Ricky Hebson. My guest and I chose to sit inside at one of the cozy corner booths with plenty of decorative throw pillows.

Drink It Tuesday: Tickle Water

Tickle Water is a gentle, fun sparkling water for kids and adults of all ages! I was instantly intrigued with the beverage when I discovered the company at a Kid Fest event at Guild Hall in East Hampton. At the event, I noticed how parents and children were very drawn to the adorable packaging and pint size 8 oz BPA free PET plastic cans specifically designed to fit children’s mini hands. Tickle Water comes in four flavors: Sparkling Water, Green Apple, Watermelon, and Cola.

Greenport Shellabration 2015

The 4th annual Greenport Shellabration took place this past weekend, December 5th and 6th from 12-4pm. “Shellabrators” had the opportunity to take part on a shellfish tour through the village, visiting over a dozen restaurants and shops to support Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County’s Back to the Bays Initiative & SPAT Program.

My husband and I attended the event as VIPs, where we each received a burlap pouch filled with goodies including a souvenir glass, beer cozy, box of 50 postcards with exquisite oyster photography, and a bottle opener. This is in addition to a regular ticketed entry inclusion of a complimentary plate of raw oysters and clams shucked by SPAT, plus a complimentary beer produced by Greenport Harbor Brewing Company.
