Crowd Cow- “Where’s the Beef?”

Crowd Cow has created a very easy to navigate and thorough website that not only teaches us about cooking and preparing each cut of beef, but also reminds us of how important it is to support sustainable farming. It has never been any easier and more concrete than now. Crowd Cow, which has recently launched its nationwide customer reach, believes in enjoying incredible beef the right way: sustainably and humanely. For me personally, this is one of the best food industry concepts I have learned of in many years. Founders Joe Heitzeberg and Ethan Lowry wish to erase the wary and uncertainly of ordering beef at your typical grocery chain and have created a crowd funding sales style of purchasing ethical, and ‘artisanal’ beef.

Most often you do not know which country the beef is coming from, even if there is a stamp that reads “grass fed.” Instead, Crowd Cow customers pick the specific cuts and quantity they want while enjoying the convenience of ordering online. The site encourages meat lovers to rally their family and friends, claim a share, tip a cow and become a “steak holder.”

Drink It Tuesday: Tickle Water

Cheers to the upcoming summer! I am thrilled to reintroduce my readers to one of my favorite child-friendly beverage companies, Tickle Water. My favorite characteristic of Tickle Water is that it is perfect for small hands, meaning that it will be ideal for my daughter to bring with her to school and activities. Her favorite is the watermelon and green apple. She calls the Watermelon flavored water “owl bubbles.” It is so cute when she laughs after each sip. We enjoy Tickle Water together during the afternoon while at our pool. The size is also compact and lightweight for bringing to the beach. The tickly taste is so refreshing!

Specialty Food Friday: Nature’s Bakery

I first discovered Nature’s Bakery at the 2nd Annual Self UpnOut event in downtown Manhattan. After exercising for almost four hours, I took my first bite into their Double Chocolate Brownie and was instantly hooked. Rarely has there been a bite of chocolate that was so tempting and satisfying for my “a little something sweet” craving post-workout. After that first taste of such a dense, chocolately brownie bar, I was on the lookout for Nature’s Bakery at my local Stop n’ Shop. I was pleased to see that their products were on sale on a fairly regular basis, so I purchased a couple dozen brownie bars.

It was not long after that I had the opportunity to try all of their Fig and Brownie bars. There is certainly a bar for everyone: four types of gluten-free Fig Bars, four brownie flavors, and eight Fig Bars, in addition to recently launched bars.

Drink It Tuesday: VeganSmart

VeganSmart is a plant-based, vegan nutrition shake company based in Irvine, CA. With flavors available in Vanilla, Chocolate, Wild Berries, Chai, Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Raspberry and Strawberry Shortcake, you can easily create a balance in your week by enjoying a new flavor each day. I had the opportunity to try each of these flavors by blending them into my homemade shakes. For example, I blended the Strawberry Shortcake with fresh strawberries, a frozen banana, walnut oil, dates, and ice with just over a cup of rice milk.
