Set on East Hampton’s Historic Main Street and steps away from the Village is The Baker House 1650. The Baker House evokes a comforting English countryside vibe and offers a rich history of the East Hampton Village. Even if you are a local, I highly suggest dropping by for a visit. The property in and of itself is breathtaking; I could see myself just pausing to meditate in the mid afternoon, taking in the fresh air and peaceful ambiance of the garden and lush trees, away from the quintessential Hamptons summer scene.
According to their website, the architecture of the Baker House is described as a “17th century Cotswold-inspired masterpiece.” The manor is reminiscent of a dream. Plus, the location cannot be beat. You are within a ten minute walking distance to the heart of East Hampton Village’s shopping and dining district. Once you step inside, you will notice that every detail is well attended to and distinctive, from the cozy fireplaces and floral arrangements, to the luxurious bedding amenities. It was no surprise that the soundtrack to Downton Abbey was playing softly in the background during breakfast. If the Crawley Family from Downton Abbey owned a summer home in the Hamptons, this would be it.
The Graybarn Cottage is a private rental home owned and operated by The Mill House Inn in East Hampton. Available to rent for the weekend (night minimums may vary throughout the year), for the week or the season. The cottage offers a perfect escape for large families, groups of friends, and or wedding parties and is available for up to eight adult guests or twelve guests in total including children. The home features three bedrooms in the main house with a loft, and a one bedroom guesthouse, two of the bedrooms are master suites with fireplaces, soaking tubs and steam showers. During the warmer months, you can relax poolside at their 40′ heated gunite pool.
Though I cannot reveal the location of the cottage as its address is revealed upon booking, it is within walking distance to the beach and to the Village of East Hampton. It offers seclusion and convenience with housekeeping twice daily and a personal assistant that will advise you of how you can make the most out of your Hamptons stay. They will help you with everything from dining recommendations and reservations to points of interest.
I invite you to join me for my breakfast experience following my overnight night stay with my husband at The Mill House Inn. I had visited the Inn for breakfast once before during the summer of 2014, and have been reminiscing about my unparalleled morning culinary adventure ever since. I was more than delighted to return and am even more eager to share my and my husband’s meal with you.
To start, we were greeted promptly and courtesy by the Courtney Silhan, the Assistant General Manager of Mill House Inn. She was with us every step of the way throughout our stay, and was always more than willing to extend herself in a truly genuine manner. She is the gem of the Inn.
We began our breakfast with freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juice, as well as a spot of TAZO Early Grey and Green Tea with local honey and milk. Don’t you just love the little scissor that accompanies the honey “straws”?
Set at the edge of the Village of East Hampton, is the iconic Mill House Inn. Before reading ahead, I want you to jot down what you’re perfect destination spot in the Hamptons may encompass. For myself, it would include an abundance of superior bedding intwined with luxurious comfort, a professional, down-to-earth and accommodating staff, and a five-star-worthy multi-course breakfast. I would be certain that every point on your list would be met or exceeded at Mill House Inn. The Inn far surpassed my expectations in every respect. For me and my husband, it was not just an overnight stay, it was an experience. This was an experience that we will make a point to repeat once or twice a year. We concluded that we would recreate our staycation at Mill House Inn once around Valentine’s Day and once during the Christmas holiday rush.
It is a great feeling to see how much the staff cares about each and every one of their guests and goes out of their way to make their stay unforgettable. Mill House Inn is comprised of the most sincere and knowledgeable individuals. They extend themselves in every way possible, from making dinner suggestions and reservations, recommending sightseeing excursions, wine tours, nearby fitness facilities, and so much more. Above and beyond is only the beginning.
The Inn is truly a remarkable place to be any time of year. Choose to stay in any one of their ten guest rooms that each evoke their own personality with simplistic, luxurious comfort.

Each of the two large suites offers guests a private entrance-way. The Tuscan Suite, which is on the second floor, has a large private deck with chairs, and a spectacular view of the vineyard, and is completely private. You may choose to spend your evenings sipping wine and reminiscing about your day. The suite is beautifully decorated in Tuscan style with heated tiles. The bathroom is just as beautifully decorated with a tile and stone walk-in shower with an overhead rain shower, side pulsating jets and a hand-held washer. Within the spacious bedroom there is a king size bed, seating area, coffee pot & espresso, Flat screen TV, wine refrigerator, A/C, and first floor accommodations. The details are so exquisite in each room and every amenity is high class that it can be compared to staying at a high class resort with the intimate comforts and sentimentalizes just like home.
