The Chequit Serves Up New & Delicious Dining and Retail Options 2017

So chic and ever-evolving is The Chequit, one of my top three favorite spots on Shelter Island. Red Maple is one of my top choices to bring friends and family to dine. Each time we have visited, we have always been more than impressed with the service and quality of the dishes. Their coconut cake, for example, was chosen as one of the Ten Best Things I Ate in 2016.

New to Shelter Island’s stylish retreat this season includes an expanded offering of baked goods at their onsite grab-and-go outlet, White Hill Café; a freshly stocked Salt Supply retail shop; and delectable new menu offerings at Red Maple, the inn’s bar and restaurant.

Salt Supply Shelter Island

The Chequit’s White Hill Café serves Jack’s Coffee and will also be amping up the freshly made goods. Additions to the menu include an assortment of breads, cookies, and cakes. A must try is their “Take and Bake Cinnamon Rolls,” a tray of six rolls that are baked at home. For lunch and on-the-go, the café will also serve a small selection of sandwiches which will vary based on market fresh ingredients.

Salt Supply has opened for its second year with a brand new selection of merchandise. Take a look at the two photos above, don’t you just love those woven totes and throw towels? Even if you are not staying at The Chequit, it is a great spot to pick up a selection of gifts and housewarming items for your loved ones. Clothing, jewelry, and small home décor gifts by independent designers are also available for purchase.

Liege Waffle Red Maple Shelter Island

Red Maple has debuted their new summer 2017 menu. New items include a new selection of flatbreads, including one with Morbier cheese, beer-braised onions, and Italian sausage; as well as a raw bar selection of oysters and clams that are served with a trio of house-made mignonettes. New entrees include their Rootbeer Glazed Pork Belly, Beef Scaloppini, and Coriander-Dusted Sea Scallop. A new dessert item is their Liege Waffle (a favorite waffle of mine) which ‘glistens’ with carmelized sugar and is served with caramel gelato and root beer syrup.

The Chequit and Red Maple are available for private events!
