Drink It Tuesday: Montauk Juice Factory

A hip and chic juice shop has recently opened up in Montauk! The Montauk Juice Factory opened this past spring and serves a selection of raw, cold-pressed, organic juices, in addition to snacks and jewelry from local businesses as well as their own MJF apparel. They are located next to the Yoga Lila studio in the center of town. If you were to walk inside, think of a local hangout by the ocean that is welcoming, fresh, and sincere. Right when I stepped inside, one of the ladies that works there was stocking up the fridge with freshly pressed juice, so you know that your juice was made that day or even within the past couple of hours. Something particular that caught my eye inside was a photograph by Justin Burkle, who captures breathtaking photographs by air and sea, including stunning photos of the ocean waves. I would love that picture in a smaller size. I have one of his that I purchased at an art show in Southampton ten years ago of an aerial view of Sag Harbor (you could still see the big blue ball!)

For my first visit, I decided on Liquid Sunshine and Beach Break. Liquid Sunshine is created with orange, pineapple, coconut water, aloe vera, lemon, ginger root, and tumeric root extract, and Beach Break is made with watermelon, mint, and hibiscus extract. They list the ingredients in plain sight on the front of the juice containers. I am really partial to the watermelon juice and I just love the touch of mint, which it makes that much more refreshing. I always feel so great after I drink a juice: revitalized and hydrated. I drank the Liquid Sunshine in the morning; it was a great start to the morning. I brought it with me while running my errands, and enjoyed while on the go. It reminded me of a juice you might find on the Floridian coast.

The juice menu of their starting lineup is available online but MJF is constantly rolling out new drinks, such as their Green Lemonade (mixed greens and pineapple and lemon), Wild Child (alkalizing flushing tonic of cayenne, lemon, safflower, wildflower honey, and filtered water), raw hemp and chia mylk (hemp, chia, filtered water, cinnamon, vanilla, medjool dates), and cold brewed coffee superfood smoothies (cold brewed coffee, bananas, sunflower seeds, medjool dates, maca powder, coconut oil, cinnamon, vanilla, raw cacao nibs.) For next time, I would love to try the chia mylk; I think I would really like that one, especially since I love dried dates and chia seeds! Other flavors they offer include Dope Beet, Sweet Harvest, The Ditch, and XO Coco.
I was able to meet and speak with Madeleine Murphy, the co-founder of the Montauk Juice Factory. She explained to me how her mother taught her all about organic farming, and all about raw foods and juicing, and was inspired to follow the same path of eating healthy and therefore feeling and living a healthy, active, and vibrant lifestyle. Her favorite juice is the Liquid Sunshine.

Take a look at their Instagram page. I love the way they capture the juice in “action” at the beach, in hand, in the car. Wherever you go, MJF can be there too! The Montauk Juice Factory is open from 8am-6pm, seven days. They also now deliver their juice, including to East Hampton for orders of $100 or more. MJF also partners with some fitness studios out east so fitness enthusiasts have a chance to try their juice post-workout. For more information, please visit https://montaukjuicefactory.com/
