When I was a graduate student, commuting through and working in Manhattan, I unfortunately destroyed several pairs of flats while trudging through the city streets in all sorts of weather conditions, rain, sleet and snow. I could never predict the weather and always failed to wear my waterproof boots on the correct days. However, walking about the city in rubber boots and carrying a change of shoes was also quite difficult as I had my work and school materials with me at all times. Five years after I graduated and moved permanently to the East End, I was introduced to the most comfortable and stylish flats that are so ideal for travel, work, and leisure.
I discovered Ja-Vie’s stylish jelly flats at this year’s OCRFA Super Saturday, held in Watermill in July. Their booth was packed with customers and while I was visiting, I was able to find two styles that I loved. This was Ja-Vie’s second OCRFA Super Saturday. “We love the idea of helping the OCRFA and spreading the word about our shoes. We donated over 200 pairs!” says Ja-Vie Owner Kyra Kelly. “We will be back next year as well. It is an amazing event!”
Their flats are very unique! Each features a cushioned insole with support for the arch, ball and heel of your foot, providing superior comfort. On average, I wear my flats for three to four hours at a time. The jelly flats are perfect for almost any type of weather as they are water resistant and are great in the rain. My daughter loves to jump in muddy puddles and these are the perfect splash-resistant shoes. The sock lining is machine washable! Just remove the insoles and into the wash they can go.
“Our shoes are perfect for the athleisure trend that so many sportswear companies our focusing on today,” says Designer Kim Black. “Everything is knit and stretch, why shouldn’t your shoes be as comfortable and light weight too? They are amazing to travel with. A pair can go from walking cobblestone streets for hours to dinner. They make the perfect go-to shoe. Leggings and or a wide knit pant with a knit duster pulls together the look.”
For Fall/October, the company is introducing 5 new Ja-Vies:
Dog Bone: to carry on with our Ja-vie is great for walking your dog campaign! Everyone loves this design!
Pirate: Skull and Cross bone, this trend is still going strong and now Ja-Vie lovers can join in.
Lips: Another fun trend, Kelly Ripa was wearing a Lips skirt on the show and it looked great. The ground on these is Navy and is easy to wear with Jeans!
Slate Stripe: This is one our customers have asked for. Our Stripe collection has performed very well and this “wear with everything” color will be a best seller no doubt.
Fawn/Black Lace: We did something similar to this last year for Holiday and it sold out! So we updated the ground color and lace and are bringing it back for the fall season.
Most popular styles include Black, Black Ruffle style (will be restocked soon*), Black Cap/Nude, Gold, Fiesta Stripe, Camel Leopard, Sand Stripe, and black and white baby dots.
