This past Saturday, January 31st, I had a blast celebrating at Love Bites held at Seasons of Southampton. Love Bites was a fundraiser that was one not to miss. A pre-Valentine benefit bash, guests had the opportunity to feast on a buffet of locally celebrated entree samples before diving into a wonderland of eye-catching desserts.
The rooms were adorned in pink up lights and filled with clashes of guests marveling at the sight, smells and tastes of the bountiful dinner that awaited them. This was an event to arrive hungry to and to be ready for tons of fun. There were a number of guests under the age of 25, or I should say, under the age of 13, which was a pleasant surprise. It is rare to see children at benefits and I really liked to see the young ones checking out the scene and tasting the gastronomic offerings. I felt like a kid myself, from sampling cotton candy that I haven’t had in years to biting into a moist, chocolatey cake pop.
Everyone was dazzling in all shades of red that lit up the buffet rows and dance floor. The scene was wall-to-wall with hungry guests sampling all of the delicious food from some of the best chefs on the east end, as well as visiting pastry artists and sommeliers from such areas as southern Connecticut and New Jersey.
Dishes that were provided included pulled pork sandwiches from Smoking’ Wolf, Charred Beef Tataki (Tenderloin) with sesame-soba noodle salad and wasabi butter from Harbor Bistro, roasted cauliflower and radicchio salad from Little Red, smoked duck breast with butternut squash agrodolce (Italian sweet and sour sauce) and saba from Nick and Toni’s, and mini meatball on crostini with ricotta cheese from Backbar Grille. Moving on to dessert, which I won’t fib here, I ate dessert first, included cookies and cupcakes from Alissa’s Edible Encores in Westport, Connecticut, freshly brewed coffee from the Hampton Coffee Company, taffy and cotton candy from The Candied Anchor, and cake pops from Dina’s Delights.
I must mention what a masterpiece each of Alissa’s creations were. Just have a look at the photos above to see for yourself! The finest artists in the business would be envious of her talent and precision to detail. My favorite treat that evening were her rice crispy and fudge balls topped with either sprinkles or a heart shaped chocolate confection.
Serving up wine and liquor included the Wölffer Estate Vineyard, Ubons Bloody Mary, Chopin Vodka bar, and Warren Bobrow (also known as The Cocktail Whisperer) served up specialty Austrian Stroh Rum cocktails.
I had such a fun-filled time at this event, seeing everyone dressed up in their finest red dresses and donning their ruby ties, and of course, tasting the array of artfully crafted foods and sweet treats that were both good for the heart and soul.
This fabulous event benefited The Ellen Hermanson Foundation and The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital. The event honored Dr. James Brady. The dinner’s Chief Chairman was celebrated chef Peter Ambrose. The music was by DJ Bob Kelly. There was also bar and a live auction that grabbed everyone’s attention!
