This was my first visit to Maman Tribeca, or any one of their four locations in New York City. Maman is a café you will fall in love with instantly upon stepping inside. Whimsical and so darling, this café reminds me of walking into a storybook: think European chic with a rustic, relaxed vibe.
The staff behind the counter as well as my waiter were so gracious. My drinks and dishes were served at appropriate times and my waiter came by multiple times asking how I was and if I needed anything. Details I loved at Maman were the interchanging pretty, blue ceramic plates and dishes as well as the Parisian décor with earthy accents, wild flowers, cozy lamps, and mason jars on the wooden dining tables.
My meal choice was the De-Constructed Avocado Toast with tomatoes, cilantro, lime, pumpkin seeds and chili peppers served with homemade country bread ($10) with a fried egg (+$2). To drink I had their famous Lavender Hot Chocolate ($4.75). The Avocado Toast is a crowd favorite; I loved that you could express your creativity and ‘build your own’ avocado toast. Everything was delicious; you could easily sit her for hours with friends and family on a Sunday afternoon.
To go, I ordered a Chai Latte ($4.50) in one of their beautiful cups and a pastry (that did not make it past four blocks). My only regret was having not getting one of their travel mugs that closely resembles their paper cups. I will definitely be back to get one, it is so pretty! Good news for everyone! The ceramic to-go cups adorned with their legendary floral print are now available to order online.
For sweets, they serve a variety of pistachio cakes, cookies, danishes, pies, and more. Review their full Sweets Menu here.
A customer favorite is the new Gluten-Free Banana Chocolate Marble Cake. Created by Erin McKenna, founder of Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC exclusively for Maman, the cake is packed with ripe bananas and agave and made with garbanzo and fava bean flour for a soft yet slightly dense crumb. This scrumptious cake is gluten-free, vegan, soy-free and kosher.
I overheard many of the customers speaking French with the staff. I would have loved to have brought my daughter and husband here; my husband speaks French very well as he spent many of his summers studying in Paris as a student.
Additionally, notable brunch menu items include Waffle-Iron Hashbowns, Zucchini Spaghetti, Maman’s ‘Rabbit Hole’ with honey-roasted pastrami and balsamic caramelized onions, and Roasted Carrots & Quinoa Salad with raisins and baby kale. There is also a children’s menu that features a Seasonal Vegetable Quiche, Grilled Cheese on a homemade brioche, and a Children’s Omelette.
