This past Friday was the sixth annual Taste of Tuckahoe, held at 230 Elm Street in Southampton hosted by Iron Chef America Judge, Karine Bakhoum, and WBAZ’s celebrity radio host, Walker Vreeland. This was my second time attending Taste of Tuckahoe, and this occasion was even more spectacular than the first. Why? To start, the food selections were outstanding, there was a new photo booth and prop station, and there were a generous number of round tables and bar space to sit and relax throughout the event.
This is the gateway event to the high season in the Hamptons. Once Taste of Tuckahoe kicks off their event, it is just one more step forward into the summer season. It is a delightful occasion to get together with friends and family and have the opportunity to sample and taste your way around Southampton, Hampton Bays and neighboring towns and hamlets. I tried some notable dishes this year including delectable plates I went back for seconds for.
My favorites were the Foie Gras Bratwurst Canapés by 1 North Steakhouse; Fregola Pasta tossed with wild mushrooms, crushed black pepper, white truffle oil,and a touch of cream topped with shaved parmesan by Edgewater Restaurant; Long Island Duck Meatballs by Stone Creek Inn; and Sherry BBQ Ribs with Truffle Mac & Cheese by Village Gourmet Cheese Shoppe; and Plum Custard and Cannolis by Krieg’s Bakery.
Participants included 230 Elm, The Golden Pear Cafe, Edgewater Restaurant, Twin Forks Beer Co., Southampton Social Club, 1 North Steakhouse, Old School Favorites, South Fork Deli, Sabrosa Mexican Gill, Appleton Jamaica Rum, Krieg’s Bakery, Saaz, Village Gourmet Cheese Shoppe, Southampton Publick House, Townline BBQ, BackBar Grille, Palmer Vineyards, Lobster Grille, Vindagra, Sundays on the Bay, Stone Creek Inn, and Scotto’s.

The intimate and lively fundraising event for the Tuckahoe School District, complete with a Chinese and Silent Auction, and music by DJ Chris Cenzoprano, offers a unique opportunity for the community to come together under one roof and celebrate the riches that exist in our area for an affordable price. Earnings from this night benefit the Tuckahoe School PTO in the way of enriching educational programs, technology, the arts, literacy and more.
