The Squeezery, located on Main Street in Amagansett, is everything one would wish for in a juice and smoothie bar: hip and friendly staff, laid-back atmosphere, live music, art, a cozy couch with a take one/leave one ‘library bookshelf, ‘boozy’ juices or ‘detox’ cocktails, local sourced produce, and so much more.
After visiting for the first time last week during the Hamptons International Film Festival, I instantly realized that this is a spot to frequent year round and tell all your friends and family about. If you have not been in yet, it is about time you checked it out! The owners are Sam Schoenheimer and James Huertas, two mates who hail from the United Kingdom and opened The Squeezery Memorial Day Weekend of this year.
Their all-day-breakfast is a must when visiting this hip juice and smoothie shop. First try the Beet Hummus toast then come in the next day for their Huevos Rancheros. Worked up an appetite at one of the nearby boutique gyms? Grab a plate of their Smoked Salmon & Avocado with organic kale on pumpernickel toast for a reasonable $12.
For lunch, there is a focus on grab-and-go options. Plus, The Squeezery is very child-friendly. They have created a school lunch program where parents can choose a sandwich, one dairy, one grain, and one fruit that is packed and ready for them to take.
Bar snacks and cocktails are served during the evenings. Bar snacks include a range of healthy bites such as Homemade Chickpea & Beetroot Hummus and a Coffee Cured Pork filled Bao Bun. Nightly specials are also served. Their ‘detox’ cocktail list is impressive. My favorites include The Green Machine: Grapefruit Vodka, Cucumber & Spirulina, Lemon, Pear Liqueur; and Dark n Stormy: Dark Rum, Fresh Ginger, Lemon, Jerry Thomas Bitters, Ginger Beer. For me, the taste of alcohol was very light and each was so refreshing with just that perfect touch of ‘buzz.’ Cocktails are served anytime after 11am. The Cocktail Bar itself opens ay 7pm and closes at 2am on the weekends. During the summer months it is nightly.
This is the perfect spot to visit after or before dinner and to celebrate the start of the weekend. All mixers and syrups are homemade and are derived from natural, organic ingredients. In a hurry? They provide cocktails bottled to go!
Their autumn menu was just released this week. The menu includes a line of juices and smoothies for fall made with ingredients such as apples, beets, and pears. “We are doing more with cinnamon and nutmeg,” says Schoenheimer. ” We are also keeping our original juices and bringing out soups and stews. One of the chefs spends half of his year in Thailand and has created some great stews with Thai spices.”
Cocktails include their Squeezery Fall Punch with Rum, Pineapple and Orange, and the Simone with Bourbon, Apple, and Citrus. There are also a variety of organic juices and health shots in addition to their hot drinks such as their hot chocolate, chai latte, and Irish coffee. Their Irish coffee is one of the best around and tastes very authentic to what you would order if you were in Ireland. No messing around there!
My favorite autumn organic smoothie is The Great Pumpkin: Pumpkin, Banana, Pumpkin Spice, and Coconut Milk. If you prefer smoothies that are not too sweet and have no added sugar, this is your place to be.
Come listen to live music during select evenings during the week and on the weekends.
The Squeezery is open beginning at 7am for breakfast, lunch as well as for dinner on select nights. Their second location will be opening in Austin, Texas very soon!
