The height of the wedding season is already upon us! Around this time of year, many of you are deciding on the perfect gift to present to the bride and groom for their new home. This August, it will be five years since my husband and I got married on the North Fork at Vineyard Caterers. All of the gifts we received we still utilize on a regular basis and each item holds a special meaning in our hearts.
To make your gift even sweeter, I recently discovered a company called Picnic Time founded by Mario Tagliati and Gustavo Cosaro (partners are Danny Corbucci and Paul Cosaro). Picnic Time sells a wide variety of unique household items from barware and picnic baskets to BBQ tools and cooler totes. I guarantee you will find the perfect wedding gift among their products! I had the pleasure of being sent the following choice gifts for review: the Bristol Picnic Basket, Parlor Ice Cream Mixing Set, and the Symphony Appetizer Serving Set.
The Bristol Picnic Basket caught my eye instantly! For many years I have wanted a picnic basket. There is nothing better than taking your family out for the afternoon, and having a picnic at your favorite park, or even outside in your lawn like we did. It was easy to let Sarah run and play, sitting down occasionally to eat with my husband and I. Our picnic menu consisted of turkey apple sandwiches, corn and tomato salad, wild rice, cheese, Winter White wine from Pindar Vineyards, and lemon creme cookies.
The Bristol is a suitcase-style picnic basket with service for two with a fully-lined cotton plaid interior. It has a hinged, flat lid design with closure straps. Inside are ceramic plates, glasses, flatware, and one set of mini salt and pepper shakers.
The Parlor Ice Cream Mixing Set offers endless opportunities for creating your own ice cream flavors at home. My husband and I dove right into this! There are so many ice cream flavors I want to create, so expect to see this set again and again in my reviews.
The Parlor Ice Cream Mixing Set is a Picnic Time original design that will delight your family members and party guests. The Parlor features a marble slab, two mixing spades, and three ceramic dishes that sit in a beautiful bamboo base. Freeze the marble slab for several hours, fill the dishes with your choice of mix-ins, and you’re ready to start creating delicious ice cream or frozen yogurt! Perfect for parties. I know my daughter will love this one (and she already does)! Ice cream creations I have in mind include:
- Butterfinger, caramel, pretzels and sea salt
- Vanilla ice cream, vanilla creme cookies, toasted coconut and bananas
- Blackberry and cherry with a splash of Bourbon
- Rum cake mixed with vanilla bean ice cream and pineapple
The Symphony Appetizer Serving Set comes with three ceramic dip and spread bowls and six picks nestled inside a recessed bamboo tray. It works with hot food, cold food, or messy food with ease. You can use it all year long for holiday parties and family gatherings indoors and outdoors. The choices and variations are limitless with the Symphony Appetizer Serving Set. Some of my favorite hor d’oeuvres ideas are:
- Italian, meats, cheeses, chutneys/jams, and marinated olives
- Spicy wings with ranch, BBQ, and homemade tangy mustard with horseradish
- Homemade Ginger and Sriracha Meatballs with sweet and sour sauces
- Assorted with chocolate, Nutella, and nut butter for dipping
- Mini crescent hot dogs with assorted mustards
- Italian sausage with sauerkraut
When Picnic Time began back in 1982, the company’s aim was and still is to put their efforts into a product line that would inspire people to spend quality time with family and friends. This resulted in our creation of traditional European-style picnic baskets that everyone could afford and enjoy. Over the last 34 years, Picnic Time has become so much more than picnic. They have expanded their product line by adding categories that include all kinds of innovative outdoor leisure, entertaining, and gift items.
