The Montauk Chamber of Commerce celebrated their 3rd annual Taste of Montauk at the Montauk Yacht Club on Sunday, June 26th from 6-9pm. The event drew a generous crowd, many of whom are notable Montauk residents. It was a jovial tasting with many delicious seafood bites abound. This was a sold out event that served up dishes from approximately a dozen restaurants in Montauk including East by Northeast, The Backyard Restaurant at Solé East, The Sloppy Tuna, Tillie’s at Gurney’s Inn Resort and Spa, Joni’s Montauk, and Ciao by the Beach.
Wineries and breweries from across the East End were in attendance including Martha Clara Vineyards, Osprey’s Dominion, Duckwalk Vineyards, Wölffer Estate Vineyards, Pindar Vineyards, Montauk Brewing Company, and Southampton Publick House.
The Montauk Yacht Club was a superb location. Patrons were able to eat, sip, and watch the sunset on Lake Montauk. Sarah Conway and her band were fabulous entertainers. What great fun it was to celebrate the bounties of what Montauk has to offer. If you missed the event, have it on your calendar next year and in the mean time, visit the restaurants for lunch or dinner that participated.
My favorite bites included the scallop by Montauk Yacht Club, the mini eggplant balls by Ciao by the Beach, the Chilled Balsam Farm Soup by East by Northeast, Ginger Sesame Popcorn Shrimp and by Surfside Inn. I ate three small cups of the shrimp and had an extra serving of the soup!
Proceeds from the event benefit the Montauk Chamber of Commerce.
