Best December Events in the Hamptons and on the North Fork

Christmas celebration 2018

The holiday season is officially upon us, and with it comes shopping bazaars, holiday lightings and festive gatherings. Here are the best December events on the North and South Forks that will get people of all ages into the holiday spirit.

Ring in the holiday season on December 8th at the Holiday Caroling, Tree & Menorah Lighting in Hampton Bays. Featuring hot chocolate, cookies, photo ops with the Grinch, and a magical lighting of a Christmas tree and Menorah at 4:20pm, the day is sure to be magical for kids and grownups alike.

Prefer to get photos with Santa on December 8th? Then the Riverhead Christmas Parade that starts at 3pm is for you! While you’ll still get to enjoy free hot chocolate (and free pictures with Santa), when 4pm rolls around, you’ll also get the added bonus of enjoying a bonfire on the riverfront.

With December 9th being the 8th night of Chanukah, it’s the perfect time to celebrate! From 3:30-5pm, the East Hampton Indoor Tennis Club will be hosting the Chanukah Bowl, where you and your family can enjoy bowling, music, crafts and Chanukah food (tickets are $10). There’s even a bowling pin menorah that you’ll get to help light!

Eat, drink and be merry on December 14th at the East Wind Big Little Holiday Party. For $69.95, you’ll be able to enjoy four hours of an open bar, a full buffet, live music and a chance to win some great prizes. So throw on your holiday outfit and dancin’ shoes and get excited for a fun night out.

Get your holiday shopping done (and support local businesses and artists) on December 15th and 16th at the By Hand Artisans Holiday Gift Show in East Hampton. From original jewelry to pottery, skincare to speciality yarns, you’ll be able to find special gifts for any person in your life.

last minute holiday gifts events

Ugly Christmas sweater parties are all the rage these days, and this year, the East End has two fabulous ones for you to attend. On December 8th, the Southampton Museum is hosting its Ugly Holiday Sweater Party, so toss on your ugly sweater and get ready for a night of food, drinks, a hot chocolate bar, music and surprises (tickets range from $35-$60). On December 15th, check out the Ugly Christmas Sweater Party at the Stephen Talkhouse. With a $10 ticket, you’ll get to enjoy the live music of Hello Brooklyn (a hip-hop band from New York City) and have the opportunity to win a prize for having the ugliest sweater in the room (a title you’d only want to earn on a night like this!).

Last minute shopping—we’ve all been there, we’ve all done it (and most of us will probably do it again this year). Luckily, the Last-Minute Bazaar in East Hampton is here to help. From 10am-3pm on December 22nd, you’ll be able to find ceramics, jewelry, textiles and other locally sourced handmade items—so not only will you be able to get your shopping done, but you’ll be able to find unique gifts (that no one would think was purchased at the last minute).
