If you love golf, Michelin-star dining, cooking classes, elegant high tea, and unparalleled historic luxury, then staying at The Biltmore Hotel is essential when visiting Miami. Located in Coral Gables about forty-five minutes from Miami Beach, The Biltmore Hotel offers stunning hotel rooms and suites, as well as one of Miami’s most sophisticated and unique international dining experiences. At the beginning of this year, The Biltmore Hotel completed a $30 million renovation program that included all rooms, corridors, the spa & fitness center, and their Historic Donald Ross Golf course.
The Biltmore team, overseen by Executive Chef David Hacket, creates some of the finest, and most memorable gourmet experiences. These include formal and casual dining options like their Five Diamond restaurant Palme d’Or, authentic Italian restaurant Fontana, and more in addition to high tea on select afternoons with music by a live harpist.
Afternoon tea, an experience that I will certainly return for, is served Wednesday through Sunday and is one of the few traditional English afternoon teas offered in the Miami area. The menu rotates seasonally with a selection of finger sandwiches, breads, scones, and petit fours. Choose from a wide variety of black, green, white, oolong, and herbal teas, along with a selection champagne and sparkling wine, including their own Biltmore Mimosa.
Room service is an experience in and of itself within their five star rooms. We were treated to a full gourmet breakfast in our hotel suite, with dishes that included French Toast with berries, a tropical fruit platter, Virginia ham, eggs any style with bacon and potatoes, muffins, bagels, English muffins, fresh orange juice, coffee, and more.
Guestrooms range from Superior rooms to Executive suites. The legendary Everglades Presidential Suite and the Merrick Penthouse Suite, named after the resort’s founder George Merrick, are among The Biltmore’s most distinguished accommodations. Luxury rooms and suites feature European feather bedding, balconies, flat-screen TVs, wireless, high speed Internet, minibars and safes, and luxurious essential bath amenities including soft and plush 100% cotton robes and towels.
Two stately Presidential Suites, one of which features a two-story exclusive accommodation decorated with soaring hand-painted ceilings and a three-bedroom penthouse, are located within The Biltmore tower and include views extending to Biscayne Bay.
Looking to hone in on your cooking skills while on vacations? If you have a passion for gastronomy, The Biltmore’s Culinary Academy is one of the only recreational cooking schools operating in North America. They host a variety of classes in their fully equipped professional kitchen from workshops and team building events for both adults and children. Current cooking classes include Asian Street Food, French Dessert, and Sushi 101, among more choices. Private cooking classes need to be booked at least one week in advance.
The hotel’s sprawling outdoor pool is one of the largest hotel swimming pools in the continental United States. There is also a luxurious spa located on the seventh floor with panoramic views and treatments ranging from massage therapy, facials, therapeutic scrubs and wraps. There are also private pool cabanas, fitness classes including water aerobics, Pilates, Spinning, yoga, and much more, along with a full-service indoor fitness center.
