How incredible is London Rosiere and the free, volunteer-run camp she founded called Camp SoulGrow? Words have very little power to describe the enormous efforts London has put forward to make sure Camp SoulGrow, based in Montauk, is a success all year long. Coming up this February during the children’s vacation week (February 16-20) is a winter camp that will occur for three days. Activities will include gardening, cake decorating, aerobics and more! This sounds like so much fun, I wish they had an adult camp too, I would so be there! Please see the flyer above for more information.
London Rosiere, originally from New Orleans, unfortunately lost her home during the devastating Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Since then, she began visiting and recently moved to Montauk and worked tirelessly to create a free camp for kids. Originally called Camp London, it is now known as Camp SoulGrow. London gained much of her inspiration from her mother, Diane Rosiere, who passed away about a year ago. It is her mother’s spirit who keeps her moving forward with growing the camp to even greater dimensions. It will be a delight to see how the Camp will flourish this coming summer!
Part of her efforts includes Camp SoulGrow’s very first fundraiser that will take place this coming Tuesday, February 17th (Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday) at East by Northeast in Montauk. It will be a Mardi Gras theme (of course!) as a toast to her home city. The event will feature cajun dishes, live music, an auction and more fun for the whole family! A suggested donation of $20 would be greatly appreciated as all of the funds go directly toward building and growing the camp. Please see the flyer in the above gallery!
Camp SoulGrow, Inc. is now officially a registered Non-for-Profit corporation in the state of New York. Every child on the east end, and those who visit here, should experience all of what this inspiring camp has to offer. There is nothing like it anywhere else!
Space is VERY limited for the winter camp, so you must act quickly! For more information, please visit http://www.campsoulgrow.org
