Deep Water Bar and Grille

This was our first visit to Deep Water Bar and Grille when we visited Greenport for a leisurely afternoon about two weeks ago. We were looking for a place for lunch that was low-key and friendly. We chose to sit inside adjacent to the seaside-style bar area, though they do have a covered second floor deck. Our waitress was very friendly and our service all around was prompt and genial.

Though we did not order any appetizers, those that caught our eye included the Hot Crab Dip: cheese and lump crab blend folded with fresh vegetables served with tortilla chips ($13), and the Clam Bistro Pot: local little and top neck clams steamed with garlic, clam juice and butter with a lemon ($18).

For my meal, I had the Fried Avocado Club Wrap: mixed greens, fried avocado wedges, tomato, bacon, bleu cheese crumbles, and cilantro cream with a side of green and yellow squash ($12), and my husband had the Baby Back Ribs Half Stack: tender baby back ribs, slow cooked in lick your fingers BBQ sauce. Served with choice of sides ($16). As his sides, my husband chose a salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and asparagus as his second side.

The ribs my husband loved. They had an essence of hickory with burnt ends on the bone, which is a huge plus. The asparagus were prepared beautifully. The avocado wrap was very satisfying, and their most unique menu item. The waitress informed us that it was a customer favorite. I was able to choose my side for that dish among their vegetables of the day. The fried avocado pieces were a standout blend of crispy and creamy.

During that Friday, dessert options included vanilla ice cream, lemon sorbet, key lime pie, lemon chiffon cake, carrot cake, and New York cheesecake.

A small children’s menu is available ($11/entree) that includes a beverage. // 631-333-2168
