LT Burger is a must-visit for families and people of all ages. Serving up incredible burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes and more all day long, this friendly neighborhood spot offers indoor and outdoor seating including a spacious dining area, bar and cozy corner booth-style tables. The restaurant is owned and operated by Chef Laurent Tourondel, a native of France who has worked under such notable chefs as: Bruno Tison at Restaurant Beau Geste in Manhattan, Jacques Maximin at Restaurant Ledoyen in France, and Chef de Partie at Restaurant Mercury at the Hotel InterContinental in Moscow. He now also owns several award-winning restaurants in New York, Miami, San Juan, Hong Kong, and one in Kazakhstan, and has authored three cookbooks including New American Cooking and Fresh from the Market.
We visited LT Burger, located in the Village of Sag Harbor, on an early Tuesday evening. My family and I have been coming to dine here since the restaurant opened in 2010 and have always been pleased with the consistently friendly and attentive service, as well as their unbeatable milkshakes and burgers that are far too good to split.
The milkshakes we chose were S’mores: vanilla ice cream, toasted marshmallows ($9); and Death by Oreo: chocolate ice cream, Oreo cookie, chocolate syrup ($10). These are the milkshakes that dreams are made of. I had not yet tried the S’mores milkshake before this visit and I can now say I have officially found my favorite milkshake at LT Burger. These are the creamiest milkshakes topped with plenty of homemade whipped cream, and the toasted marshmallow is reminiscent of those evenings out by the campfire. The Death by Oreo is very chocolatey and is a must if you are an Oreo cookie fan.
Our burger choices were the Route 27: caramelized onion, peppered bacon, smoky catch-up, Mecox Cheddar ($15); and LT Backyard: grilled hickory smoked bacon, NY state cheddar, LT sauce. ($14). My daughter had the LT Kids Box with the chocolate milkshake ($22). With the LT Kids Box, my daughter had the choice of the following: grilled cheese, mini burger, corn dog, chicken fingers, or mozzarella sticks; and a choice of the following sides: waffle fries, broccoli, sweet potato fries or skinny fries ($17 +$5 for the chocolate shake).
Both burgers were top notch and combined smartly stacked, dense flavors: the pepper bacon and cheddar, and the LT sauce followed by the crunchy red onions, to name a few. Their burgers are so appealing that this should be your only destination burger spot during your Sag Harbor stay.
It is a lot having a burger and shake together, so I recommend two options: have your own shakes and split a burger or have your own burger and come back later for your shakes.
Sarah had the grilled cheese with skinny fries as she loves grilled cheese sandwiches. The LT Kids Box includes an interactive carrying box (perfect as an activity during the meal and for taking home leftovers). The Box also included a clementine and a PEZ dispenser. A coloring book with crayons and their signature orange balloon were gifted to Sarah during our visit.
