Now you can bring Martha’s celebrated recipes and cooking techniques into your kitchen! Martha & Marley Spoon, by Martha Stewart, is a meal delivery service that offers pre-portioned, seasonal ingredients and the recipes you choose delivered to your door. Her delivery boxes help to avoid food waste with the delivery of the exact amount of specified ingredients you will need for your meals at home. With Martha & Marley Spoon, you are able to customize your delivery boxes each week with notable recipes from dishes you have always wanted to try to your favorites you love making often with perhaps a little twist.
I have tuned in to Martha Stewart’s television programs ever since I was a young child. I remember her show that was filmed at her home where she would talk about gardening tips, entertaining ideas, and of course her cooking demos in her own kitchen. I would write the recipes out with my gel pens and then hand them to my grandma to ask if we could recreate that recipe later in the day after we spent the day outside. One of my favorites that I still have is her dark double chocolate cookies. I own several of her cookbooks, including my most recent purchase, Martha Stewart’s Appetizers.
For my first week meal delivery week, I chose the following four recipes for a family of four:
- Lemony Carbonara
- Roasted Sweet Potato and Kale Salad
- Seared Steak and Crispy Potatoes
- Meatball and Orzo Stew
My choices were based on meals I have either not made in some time or I loved their take on a particular dish, such as the Lemony Carbonara. Delivery was prompt on the specified day, with each meal’s ingredients perfectly portioned in each paper bag, meats, and cheeses that needed to either be frozen or refrigerated were carefully stored at the bottom of the box. Each meal came with a step-by-step recipe guide, that include photos of each direction. Each was simple, and easy to follow.
It was a tough decision to choose a favorite, though I would say mine was the Roasted Sweet Potato and Kale Salad. In all, what I loved most about Martha & Marley Spoon was that each recipe was very smart, and carefully crafted. For example, you do not find that citrus and creamy combination often with the Carbonara and the addition of dates and almonds to the Kale Salad was perfect with that lemony dressing. The ingredients were very fresh and the portions were perfect for two adults and two children (my son is just a baby so we had an adult guest over each night and we all felt satisfied).
With the Seared Steak and Crispy Potatoes, we mistakenly did not take the top off of our pan, which caused the potatoes to not come out crispy like we had anticipated. Don’t forget to remove your lid! With the Kale Salad, make sure to evenly distribute the kale across your baking sheet, as flat and uniform as possible. Gently massage your kale as well before you roughly chop it. We used a cheese grater to shave the parmesan cheese.
Currently menu choices for this week are White Bean & Kale Tartines, Pork Noodle Soup, Fried Shrimp & Broccoli Salad, and Lentil & Cauliflower Soup. One of my choices from last week, the Meatball & Orzo Stew with Baby Spinach, was a Customer Favorite.
