Mustang Harry’s

Located steps away from New York City’s Madison Square Garden and Penn Station is Mustang Harry’s, a legendary sports bar and Irish gastropub that is the ideal spot to catch up on all things sports on their large flat screen televisions strategically located all around the restaurant. Their 99-seat sweeping bar is perfect for locals and concert goers alike to grab a bite before or after the game or show, and there are plenty of booths and high top seating just opposite the bar.

Their menu includes elevated cuisine with a selection of handcrafted pub classics such as Shepard’s Pie and Fish & Chips, along with gourmet burgers, and appetizers with a little kick like their Crispy Calamari. Mustang Harry’s also serves a wide selection of signature cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits. Guests will easily settle inside this charming and lively establishment that evokes a post-industrial Manhattan with friendly, Irish character.

Starters include Local Burrata, Charred Lamb Lollipops, and a daily soup selection. During my visit, the soup of the day was a Potato Leek soup sprinkled with fresh chives; so creamy and flavorful, I would love it again in a heartbeat. My guest and I split a customer favorite, their Crispy Calamari from their To Share menu. It made with sweet and sour chili sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds and scallions ($14).

We were both so pleased and instantly could tell why this was a favorite! Our waitress recommended it to us. The level of spice was just perfect and what made this dish were the scallions with that hint of chili. We also had the Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta: whipped avocado, garlic toast ($12).

Our starters and appetizers were enough to fill us up, though also did try two entrees, bringing the rest home after a few (very delicious) bites. Our entrees of choice were Harry’s Burger: blue cheese, caramelized onion, sweet pickles, tomato, market greens, crispy onion, Mustang sauce, smoked bacon ($18); and Herbed Grilled Salmon: sweet pea risotto, charred corn, and roasted shiitake mushrooms ($27). I cannot stop thinking about this burger; the textures and rich flavors are so memorable. My guest loved their salmon which was perfect perfectly and paired beautifully with the risotto. Two smart choices, recommended by our waitress, which I also give five stars!

Notable sizes include Smoky Mac & Cheese, Garlic Parm Fries, and Sweet Pea Risotto with aged parmesan.
