The merriment in London’s Soho neighborhood is all about. The streets are flowing with shoppers, and plenty of dining options await. Pastaio Soho, a lively restaurant that serves up the freshest pasta, is the place to be to relax and refuel in between shopping, and photographing the Christmas lights.
With two other locations in Westfield and Market Hills, their Soho location is conveniently located just behind Hamley’s, and the Carnaby Christmas Lights. Picadilly Circus, Leicester Square, and Covent Garden are all within a short walking distance. With festivities all about in London, a hearty and housemade pasta dish is just the thing.
We started with tall coffees, and a Moju cold-pressed fresh juice. Served in a bottle, I chose the green juice. The green juice is a blend of apple, cucumber, pineapple, spinach, celery, lime and mint (£5). Cocktails served include an Aperol Spritz, Campari & Soda, Cherry Cooler, and Negroni. Easily picture yourself during the warmer months sipping an Aperol Spritz in between shopping jaunts along Regent Street and in nearby Selfridges.
The friendly staff members all seemed to have a little twinkle in their eye. They approached our table with a genuine smile and were always eager and willing to help.
We started with the Coombeshead Farm Sourdough with Castello Di Resultano Olive Olive (£3.5). Just enough for the table for us to split. The bread was recommended by our waiter as it is sourced from a local farm by Chef Stevie Parle. It was very soft and delicious with the olive oil.
Pasta was a tough decision. Every selection looked enticing. We eventually selected the Squash Ravioli (£12.5), and Slow Cooked Tomato Sauce Rigatoni (£7). The Squash Ravioli’s sage with the freshest butter was simply perfect. The sage was what made this dish; like it was plucked straight from the garden. The rigatoni with marjoram and parmesan was superb. The pasta was the heart and soul of that dish. Five stars across for the pasta itself.
A ten out of ten for the Almond, Pistachio, and Lemon Ice Cream without reservation. A very rare accolade for ice cream from myself, but more than deserved. A culinary ménage à trois to rave about, we ordered two servings instead of our usual ‘split’ decision.
Pastaio Soho is open daily for lunch and dinner beginning at 12pm. Their Soho location offers outdoor seating, and online delivery is available via Deliveroo.
