Rigoni di Asiago is an exceptional brand, originally based in Italy, that sells organic jams, a hazelnut spread, and honey. Recently, they unveiled a new pear fruit spread. I was very excited to hear this, especially since pears are my favorite late summer and autumn fruit. Last autumn while I was pregnant with my daughter, I ate a pear almost every day. I now see why pears are her favorite fruit as well! I have been a huge fan of Rigoni di Asiago for about two and a half years, ever since I read about the company in Specialty Food Magazine.
My particular favorite product of theirs that I always have at least one in my pantry closet is their Nocciolata, an organic chocolate-hazelnut spread that is exceptionally smooth, flavorful, and a terrific pairing with fruit, on whole wheat toast, and is a great ingredient for making smoothies, ice cream, cakes, and cookies. The pear jam is unbelievable! Thank goodness I have two jars; my husband and I already finished the first one! I have one more jar left that will be perfect for an intimate brunch I am hosting at my home this Sunday. The pear jam paired very well with asiago, white cheddar and blue cheese on crackers topped with candied walnuts and or craisins. I also had some on homemade cinnamon toast. Each taste is like enjoying a freshly pureed pear, and every now and then you will taste a small piece of the pear. There is no added sugar; in fact, the fruit spread is sweetened with apple juice, which is very clever.
Each of Rigoni di Asiago’s products are non-GMO, organic, Kosher, and gluten-free. The fruit spreads are vegan and are made with 100% organic fruit. There are many flavors of fruit spreads available including lemon, peach, plum, raspberry, lingonberry, orange, and pink grapfruit. They also sell organic honey. Rigoni di Asiago has been in business for over seventeen years.
