Specialty Food Friday: Made in Nature


Made in Nature, a company I am more than pleased to share with you, sells a large variety of dried, grains, and healthy snacks. There assortment of fruits, nuts, and grains is all organic and non-GMO, so you know instantly that you are about to try some of the most nutrient-rich foods on the planet. Not only are their products great to snack on, but they are also perfect for incorporating into recipes from breakfast to dinner and everything in between. Get ready to taste some power packed nutrition!

I had the opportunity to try the following dried fruits: Tart Cherries & Sultana Raisins, White Mulberries, Goldenberries, Tart Cherries, and Goji Berries. Dried fruit & nuts fusions I sampled included: Pomegranate Ginger, Cinnamon Citrus, and Maple Balsamic.

Each pack of fruit and or nuts was a powerhouse of flavor from the luscious, earthy mix of sweet and savory in the Maple Balsamic Fusion to the plump tart Tart Cherries. Each bag was impossible to put down. I remember saying to my husband I wanted to create a scone with the Tart Cherries & Sultana Raisins, but I ate nearly half the bag without even realizing it and before we had the opportunity to gather the rest of the ingredients.

My two favorites were the Organic White Mulberries and the Cinnamon Citrus Fusion. This particular Fusion reminded me of cozying up next to a campfire during an Indian Summer in the mountains of New England. There are lovely notes of vanilla and orange snuggling in each bite. The White Mulberries were very unique as I don’t recall the last time I enjoyed mulberries. Mulberries are rich in fiber and Vitamin C and are a great topper for yogurt, oatmeal, or as an accompaniment to grilled apples, pears, or peaches.

I love their recipe page, where you could discover creative dishes to whip up for gatherings of all sizes. My favorites include Bacon Wrapped Dates with Goat Cheese, Sweet & Sour Plum Sauce, Ricotta and Mulberry Grilled Peaches, and Kale and Date Sourdough Stuffing. At home, I used the Organic Goldenberries and mixed them in the couscous, saffron, canned diced tomatoes, and pine nuts. I also love adding goldenberries to stuffed peppers for a taste of sweet.

Recently, the company launched their new line of Maple Madagascar Vanilla Toasted Coconut Chips. I had an opportunity to sample these when I was at the Summer Fancy Food Show in Manhattan. The chips have a delicately crispy texture, and have a subtle sweet taste of maple with a kiss of vanilla.
