Specialty Food Friday: Nounós Creamery

I first discovered Nounós Creamery’s Greek Yogurt at the 11th Annual Hamptons Happening this past July in Bridgehampton. I have tried the following four flavors so far: Peach Melba, Forest Berries, Strawberries & Cream, and Fig Orange. Additional flavors they sell include Vanilla Bean Blend, Apple Cinnamon, and Classic Plain. This is the best yogurt I have tried in a long time. It is very creamy, not sweet just the way I like it, and most importantly satisfying especially for those of us at work. My lunch oftentimes consists of yogurt, tea/coffee, and a side salad or fresh fruit. Their Greek yogurt will keep me satiated for at least three to four hours!

Nounós, the Greek word for godfather, is based in Southampton. It takes Nounós three days to process a batch of yogurt by hand. It takes more than a day for straining alone. 85% of the glass used in their pots is from recycled glass. Did you know that glass is 100% recyclable and can be recycled endlessly without loss in quality or purity. Glass is recognized by the FDA as the safest material for food packaging.

I really loved each flavor equally. My favorite is that the fruit is on the bottom of the glass container, that is super cute and conveniently sized! The fruit on the bottom adds to that feeling of anticipation and desire. Nounós Creamery will be introducing two new flavors this fall: Pumpkin Spice and Apple Pie a la Mode.

You can find Nounós Creamery at Schiavoni’s in Sag Harbor, and Whole Foods in Jericho.
