Summer Fancy Food Show Launches Child Friendly Snacks

Child Friendly Specialty Food

There has been a recent boom in demand for healthy, high-quality child-friendly snacks in the specialty food industry. This year’s food show was beaming with top-notch, organic, gluten-free, nut-free, and non-GMO snack choices for children and parents alike that are ideal to bring to school, the beach, or a road trip. My daughter helped me curate this list, and I know when it has her seal of approval, it is the best of the best. Below are our top four child-friendly snacks introduced to my family at this year’s Summer Fancy Food Show.

Nature’s Bandits

Nature’s Bandits must be one of the best child friendly snacks my daughter and I have tried. My daughter can’t get enough of them and we both love that they are not too tough and chewy. This healthy fruit and veggie snack is certified organic, and are made of real fruit and vegetables with no artificial colors, sweeteners or preservatives. The snack is a also gluten-free and vegan  as it is not made with gelatin. These are going to be such a great snack for camp and school. Each 5 Pack box contains 2 collectible trading cards, that my daughter also loves. Her favorite is ‘Wendy Wolf’. Try to collect all 20 woodland characters cards.

Available on Amazon.

Petit Pot

Featuring one of the cutest labels around, Petit Pot has created a line of Riz au Lait (French Rice Pudding), Pots de Crème, and French Mini Cookies. The concept was created by French Pastry Chef Maxime Pouvreau, who worked at two Michelin Star restaurants in both Paris and San Francisco before founding Petit Pot. For Petit Pot, simple and wholesome is best as they make their desserts with organic milk, organic cream, organic butter, organic sugar and the best cocoas, Madagascar vanilla, and other spices and flavors. My daughter loved her gluten-free Riz Au Lait as a snack/dessert, it is also the perfect size for her to take to school!

Petit Pot is also available at dozens of specialty food grocery stores and Whole Foods markets in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Salt Lake City, and more primarily on the west coast. Petit Pot just launched in New York! Find them at Guy and Gallard, Eddys Eats, Battery Market place, Fresh food deli, City acres market, and starting next week at The District and Brooklyn Fare.

BEAR yoyos

Bear Nibbles

This is one serious ‘fruit roll-up’ upgrade! No added sugars, non-GMO, no gumming agents, and no preservatives, the #1 fruit snack in the UK has landed in the U.S.! There is one cup of fruit in every serving, with flavors including Strawberry, Apple, Raspberry, and Mango. Made with fruits and veggies including black carrot extract and seaweed extract. Your ‘little cubs’ at home Cubs will be delighted to know that that each pack contains Around the World with BEAR collectable cards! Go on an adventure around the world in 80 days with BEAR and learn about the history, culture and native greeting from each country. We just learned that Easter Island was discovered by the Dutch and Jamaica has a bobsled team that competed in the Winter Olympics. Collect ten ‘bearcodes’, pop them in the mail to the Big BEAR Cave and receive a free world map (with flag stickers too!) and a letter from BEAR himself.

Purchase BEAR yoyos on Amazon and at several specialty food markets and gourmet delis in NYC.

Vegy Vida

Dip it, top it, and cook with it! Vegy Vida is a dip, mix-in and ingredient intended to get kids to enjoy their veggies. My daughter only recently became fond of snap peas, for instance. These dips are crafted with a newly discovered natural cucumber extract that softens bitter veggie flavor. Vegy Vida can be used on as a dip on vegetables, salad dressing and more. Adults will find it is less pungent than traditional dips and mix-ins. It is available in three flavors: Creamy Ranch, Cheesy Cheddar and Zesty Southwest for $3.59 per bottle.

Purchase at various Walmart Supercenters across the United States. The closest in store location to the Hamptons is in North Bergen and Secaucus, New Jersey.

Nature Addicts

Nature Addicts were extremely popular as soon as they arrived on my doorstep. I had to somehow convince my daughter to wait to have a third pouch until later that evening (no easy task) as these were some of the best fruit sticks we have ever had. Each stick is bursting with fresh, fruity taste packaged in a resealable bag, making them perfect for work, road trips, the beach, and on-the-go in town. There is one serving of fruit per pouch. Flavors include Apple Mango Passion Fruit, Apple Raspberry, and Fruit & Chocolate Apple Orange. The exterior of each stick is not sticky, so it won’t create messy hands. My favorite was definitely the Apple Mango Passion Fruit, which instantly brought me back to my family’s home in Antigua. Nature Addicts Fruit Sticks are non-GMO, vegan, preservative-free, and gluten-free.

Purchase at King Kullen, Fairway Market, Walgreens, North Shore Farms, and more.
