I started to become more aware of my personal style when I graduated from NYU in 2012. Before that time, I could be spotted walking through Manhattan in dark jeans, UGG boots, a chunky oversized sweater, and a knitted beanie cap. I wore mostly neutral colors and I never liked my clothes to stand out. I remember when I began attending briefings at the United Nations, my friends were always so stylish with their stilettos, chiffon floral blouses, pencil skirts, and I would arrive in khakis and an Oxford shirt.
I broke the mold and created my own refined, laid-back style once I settled in the Hamptons full time. My favorites are nautical prints, bright pink tops, skirts and dresses, as well as Breton tops, fitted dresses, and first and foremost, pieces that are comfortable and breathable. Below I have picked out six examples of my typical summer outfits. I intend to do this post once a month to showcase even more style ideas for your Hamptons season.
