Valentine’s Day brings out different reactions from people. Some would rather stay away from the pressure and celebrate their loved ones on a different day. And others bathe in the love that surrounds them, clinching every opportunity they can use to honor their loved ones. It can be overwhelming when you want to celebrate your significant other. What should you get them? Should you eat out?
You are likely to spend hours scouring through romantic Valentine’s Day ideas to see what would work for you. But this day is quite simple if you let it be. You don’t have to spend a ton of cash on planning. All you need to do is to understand what your partner needs and to give it to them. It could be as easy as taking the day off and lying on the couch all day catching up on romantic movies with them.
Here is what you need to consider for a perfect Valentine’s Day:
Valentine’s month means you start shopping for a bar of chocolate for your partner. However, if your partner is vegan, you may have a challenge in choosing a special gift for her or him.
Shopping for a vegan Valentine’s month gift may be a challenge, particularly if your partner did not go vegan a long time ago. This is because there are some things you can consider and things you should never give to a vegan this February. Therefore, it is important to do your research to ensure you get a nice gift.

Care to join? Long Island Restaurant Week is happening now from Sunday to Sunday, January 21st-28th. Jean-George at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton is one of the many participating restaurants. The Restaurant Week menu is available for all dinner hours, except for Saturday where the menu extends just to that early evening. Long Island Restaurant Week is one of my favorite times to dine out because it gives you the opportunity to explore various restaurants in and out of your area you may not have the chance to dine out during the high season.
Valentine’s Day is almost upon us. Whether you are celebrating with that special someone, close friends, family, or perhaps a long lost connection, I have curated a list of some of my favorite sweets to enjoy on Cupid’s Day and even all winter, from local sweet treat to a specialty food favorite.
Indulging in signature donuts for Dunkin’ Donuts has and always will be one of my favorite ways to enjoy a sweet treat. Especially during these chilly days, nothing is more comforting than a freshly baked donut filled, or I should say loaded, with sweet, soft icing and topped with festive pink, red and white heart sprinkles for Valentine’s Day. I surprised not just my husband, but also my friends and co-workers with a box of heart-shaped donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts in Bridgehampton.
I purchased their Brownie Batter Heart topped with chocolate icing and heart sprinkles, Cookie Dough Heart topped with chocolate icing and chocolate chips, Vanilla Creme [Filled], Vanilla Frosted with powdered sugar, Bavarian Creme with pink frosting, and Bavarian Creme with chocolate frosting. Each were gobbled up in a heart beat. I love eating heart-everything during Valentine’s Day weekend.
I just fell head over heels in love with a new master chocolatier! I was graciously sent a box of B.T. McElrath Chocolatier’s five piece Love Note Box ($13.50) crafted with 70% dark chocolate. These Rich, dense dark chocolate ganache truffles cloaked in delicious dark chocolate will have your heart soaring this Valentine’s Day. My husband and I adore dark chocolate and have already enjoyed a piece each together.
B.T. McElrath also sells a large variety of chocolate bars including such unique flavors as Buttered Toast, Prairie Dog, and Salty Dog.
A new gourmet chocolate shop has opened on the North Fork in Aquebogue called the North Fork Chocolate Company! This spacious building is also home to a number of local purveyors who rent space and sell their fine products in the shop. This collective is full of creativity and that features such items for sale as coffee beans that can be ground on the premise, handmade vegan soaps, pickles, potato chips, milk, cheese, cookies, and more.
This past week, the shop has had a few days of “soft openings,” and intends to have their grand opening in late March of spring begins. The shop only features local organic from selected and trusted brands based on the eastern end of Long Island. Even their chocolates include fine ingredients from local farms and businesses.
