Drink It Tuesday: Takeya® USA

Takeya has been a savor for preparing refreshing arrays of iced tea for myself, my family, and friends all summer long. Their FLASH CHILL® Iced Tea Maker is all about convenience and speed, or everything we desire in dinner and event preparation. I was so pleased to receive their Iced Tea Maker and loose leaf iced tea blends about a month ago after I learned about their unique brewing process at the Summer Fancy Food Show.

The tea maker comes with a thorough step-by-step brewing guide as well as recipes to jazz-up your antioxidant-rich tea blends. These recipes include Strawberry & Kiwi prepared with the Spring Green tea blend, and Apple Orangeade with their Hibiscus Pomegranate.

In three easy steps and just a few minutes, it produces the best-tasting, most nutritious iced tea possible.

  1. POUR

Pour a pre-measured, foil-sealed T-PAC® per quart of Takeya’s premium whole leaf tea, specially blended to be chilled, into the infuser. Six varieties are available: Classic Black, Coconut Lime Rooibos, Hibiscus Pomegranate, Mint Green, Spring Green and Tropical Black. (My favorite is the Tropical Black).

  1. BREW

Brew for the recommended time (3-7 minutes, depending on type of tea) right in the same pitcher that you will store your iced tea in the refrigerator. Speaking of, due to the airtight lid, that storage can be upright or on its side.

Fill to the top with ice, seal airtight and shake for 30 seconds. The airtight lid locks in the flavor and nutrients that are lost with traditional brewing methods, resulting in the perfect pitcher every single time.

The best part of this revolution is its accessibility. “I didn’t set out to create a Keurig-like system, where you can’t make our tea without our Iced Tea Maker, or vice-versa,” says Takeya founder and CEO, John Lown. “The teas include instructions on how to brew at home traditionally, and our FLASH CHILL Iced Tea Maker can be used with any tea you choose, whether loose or bagged.”

Takeya USA began in 2008 as a joint partnership between two friends, John Lown, visionary inventor and pioneer of the popular home storage brand, Snapware®, and Hiroshi Taketani—who share a passion for product design and the art of making and enjoying iced tea.

The FLASH CHILL® method chills freshly brewed tea in seconds, locking in flavor and antioxidants at its peak, delivering the perfect glass of iced tea.  Over the years, the brand has expanded to offer a full range of beverage ware and food storage offerings, including its flagship collection of iced tea makers and accessories.

The TAKEYA Flash Chill Iced Tea Maker is dishwasher safe. Plus here’s a great tip: used tea leaves may be disposed in garden soil, as they make great plant fertilizer.

You could purchase their 2QT FLASH CHILL® Iced Tea Maker (retails at $29.99) that comes in four colors here.
