Calling all East End Gourmands! The East End Chef’s Program is a monthly dinner that raises money for local scholarships held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in East Hampton. The dinners take place on a select Wednesday each month at 6:30pm in the church’s Home Hall. The most recent dinner was held last Wednesday, February 21st with a four course dinner presented by Sam Mohan of Saaz in Southampton.
Executive Chef Prashant started the program with a ‘street food’ appetizer from India called Brel Poori:puffed rice with tamarind and chutney, served cold. Next was a salad of European lettuce blend with a ginger citrus dressing with Nama bread on each table, followed with the main course: Chicken Tikka Masala in a creamy tomato sauce served with coconut rice. Next course was a vegetarian Chana Saag, which is made with chickpeas and creamy spinach. Dessert was a Semolina Pudding.
Past chefs include Wolffer Kitchen’s Brian Cheewing, Nick and Toni’s Joseph Realmuto, Graham and Martha Quinn of Sam’s Restaurant, and Craig Atwood of Page at 63 Main, among many more. These chefs and restaurant owners donate their food and services all for our local students.
The next dinner will be held Wednesday, April 18th at 6:30 p.m. with Stuart’s Seafood.
Seating is limited and reservations are strongly encouraged. Seating is at banquet tables, a great way to meet fellow community residents! The price is $30, payable at the door. Wine and water are available for purchase during the dinners. For more information, please call Lillian Woudsma at 631-329-2151.
